Welcome to the Aldrich Y-DNA results page. Below is the current results reported by FamilyTreeDNA.

- Moving your cursor over the Earliest Known Ancestor column will view expanded information for that ancestor.

- The Ysearch column gives the User ID if the member has posted to the FTDNA public database.

- The SMGF column has a search link to find matches in the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation database.

- To participate in the Aldrich DNA study, please go to the Join the Aldrich Project Page and fill out the order form to receive the group discount for the tests. If it is financially feasible, you should then order the Y-DNA25 - - Male 25 marker paternal test (or the Y-DNA37 - - Male 37 marker paternal test). Next, please send a genealogy chart of your known male Aldrich ancestry to the for our records.

09/18/2005 - The results of the first kit have been reported. There is a 19/19 match to a genetic profile at Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) database. The most distant known ancestor was Stephen A. Aldrich who was born 1870 in Missouri and married Clara Gregory. You can see this match by following SMGF search link for kit #39669.

10/22/2005 - Results are in for kit 43375 and it is a 12/12 match with kit 39669. There is about a 95% chance that these 2 kits share a common ancestor in the last 775 years. To move this to a closer timeframe, kit 43375 would need to upgrade to 25 markers.

10/24/2005 - Kit N12283 is from the National Geographic DNA study and he has join Aldrich surname study. It is a 9/12 marker match with the first 2 results and only a 50% chance that they have a common ancestor in the last 1100 years. Also, this DNA signature is the Western Atlantic Modal Haplotype and because this is a common 12 marker signature, it is recommended to upgrade to a 25 or 37 markers.
